Nice size pub, Set in a corner of Newbury's market place, The rear backs onto the Kennet and Avon canal. The beer is good, and there is a wide choice, The food is OK, nothing to write home about, But the atmosphere is not welcoming, there appears to be lots of little cliques in there, and the groups don't seem to mix. It has the nickname of "The Vodafone Social Club" as a lot of the custommers work there and do nothing but talk about it. Saying that, the Hogs is always busy and at weekends has doorstaff on, which makes the pub user friendly for women. Would I go back?........Probably.
